What's in My Makeup Bag?

This will be similar to "what's in my bag", but I'm using my makeup bag! I'm going to a quick review of each of the products I am currently using, and I'm going to talk about my makeup routine afterwards.

 Floral Makeup bag from Forever21

The first set of products are my primer, foundation, powder and blush. The primer is from Revlon and it's called "Photo Ready Perfecting Primer". I do notice a difference in how smoothly my makeup goes on my face when I use this primer. It feels kind of greasy, and I'm sure it makes me breakout, so I mostly just use it on my eyelids and under eyes. The foundation I use is "Super Stay Micro-Flex Formula Foundation" from Maybelline New York. It's liquid, it goes on smoothly and it (for the most part) covers my imperfections. It doesn't always cover my "red spots" though. The powder is also by Revlon, and it's called "ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup". The "Aqua" part is probably referring to the refreshing feeling the powder gives off when you put it on your face. It feels cold. I personally don't really love this about it, but it's a really nice powder! I used to use it without liquid foundation underneath but I ran out of my concealer. I kept the bottle though, so I could look for it again next time I went shopping for makeup. It's called "ColorStay Blemish Concealer" (Revlon) and it's supposed to both hide, and help to heal blemishes. I think it works alright, but I can't really say for sure. I liked it enough to use it up though! The two blushes are from CoverGirl. They're called "Cheekers blush" in golden pink and rose silk. I like to combine the two together, the red on the lower part of my cheek and the pink on the higher. I also like them separately though, as they're really nice blushes. :)

This eyeshadow is from Forever21 Love & Beauty. It is a great palette with neutral colours that suit me nicely! As you can tell, I used quite a bit of that light yellow/white as a highlight. They're nicely pigmented. The brushes came in a cheap set at Walmart but they're actually pretty soft and they don't irritate my sensitive skin.

This picture shows what I use afterwards on my eyes! The eyeliner is from L'orĂ©al Paris, and it's called "Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner" in Grey. I thought it was black when I bought it, and it's still pretty dark so I don't mind it. I don't have the best sharpener ever, it often falls apart and this eyeliner is impossible to clean up. It got all over my carpet and makeup products, and it spreads around and gets all over my skin and the only thing that gets it off is lotion! Yet it can't manage to stay on my eyes for the day. The mascara I've used for over a year now is "Falsies Volume Express" by Maybelline New York. I absolutely love this and I've tried both the Black Lace one (whatever its called) and the Flared one! It makes my lashes look long and dark and it's just the perfect mascara. The eyelash curler is from Forever21. It does it's job. It's getting a bit old now though and has lost its spring a bit.

Next is what I use on my eyebrows. The green stick is called "Define-A-Brow" in medium brown from Maybelline NY. It looks dark enough for me when I look in the mirror, but appears kinda clumpy and reddish coloured in pictures I've taken with my Canon Rebel. Despite this I just love this! I used to use dark brown eyeshadow. The brush on the other end of the stick is seriously useless though. I just spread it with an eyelash brush that came in the same kit from above. The tweezers are the best I've ever used. They're angled perfectly, and they have a nice guard. They're from Shoppers Drug Mart.

Define-A-Brow twists open and looks just like brown eyeliner.

Now, my makeup routine is pretty simple and "natural-looking". I first apply concealer, foundation, and powder. Then I put on my blush and use a light eyeshadow to highlight my cheeks, inner corner of my eyes, and underneath my eyebrows. This opens up your eyes and makes you look more awake. Then I fill in my eyebrows.

After that, I put on eyeshadow. I use a light-medium brown as a base, then a darker brown in the outer corners and spread it into the creases of my eyes. (Just like your standard smokey eye!) I blend this well, as I don't like my makeup to be too dark. Sometimes I will add a shimmery tan colour on top, as well. Then I put on my eyeliner, and I like to make it slightly thick with a bit of a wing. Then mascara, and done and ready to go. Too bad my camera sucks at capturing eyeshadow...

The eyeshadow palette I am currently using (the Forever21 is just for traveling now), is an amazing neutral palette with 120 colours to choose from. I'm in love with it. I bought it on Amazon.ca and it's from ML Collection. Darn flash.
